Protests erupt outside Kasba Police station as 3 arrested in alleged Kolkata college gang rape
A delegation of 10 legislators from the Estimates Committee of the Legislative Assembly, comprising members from the Trinamool and BJP parties, visited Alipore Zoo on Monday morning to assess the well-being of the animals and birds during the summer season. The committee's primary objective was to observe the actual conditions in which the animals were being kept and to evaluate the measures being taken by the zoo authorities to ensure their comfort and safety.
The delegation's visit was a part of their routine inspection of various government-run facilities to monitor their functioning and to provide recommendations for improvements. The legislators carefully observed the animals' living conditions and inquired about their dietary and medical requirements. They also scrutinized the zoo's arrangements for providing adequate water and shade to the animals, given the scorching summer heat.
The committee members held discussions with the zoo authorities to gather information about the steps being taken to maintain the animals' health and well-being, and also reviewed the financial allocation for the zoo's maintenance. The legislators will compile their findings into a report and present it to the assembly.
